American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) International Petrochemical Conference (IPC)
Integra colleagues recently attended the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) International Petrochemical Conference (IPC) in San Antonio on March 24- 26.

As part of the International Women’s Day events in Singapore, our CEO, Gina Fyffe, was invited by GESS (German European School Singapore) to participate in the school’s International Women’s Day Fireside Chat.

Gina was joined by three ladies who walk the talk and are great examples of achievement with successful careers: Sandra Jensen Landi, Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore and Brunei; Annie Koh, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Finance at Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University; and Mathilde Swierczynska, Board Advisory and co-founder of the Singapore Chapter of Inspiring Girls.
From the feedback it looks as if students and speakers alike had a good time and there were lots of questions both during the chat and off the stage afterwards too.
Thanks to Gina (Georgina) Fyffe for her support and we hope to work on future events with GESS in 2024.

International Day for Women in Maritime – IMO
As IMO celebrates it’s first “International Day for Women in Maritime” this week, we reflect how efforts to get this far had already started back in the early 1980’s.
Our CEO, Gina Fyffe, who co-founded WISTA International way back during her Exxon days has been advocating for better gender representation in the maritime, trading and logistics sectors since the early 1980s along with her other co-founders.
This week, IMO took another step forward in widening the dialogue towards strengthening diversity & inclusion in the maritime industry. As a company who has inclusivity as a cornerstone of everything we aim to do, we applaud that initiative.
WISTA chapters across the world have been celebrating this week, and Gina continues her advocacy as chairperson of the Talent, Training and Leadership (TTLT) board committee of EPCA.

Houston Office Move
Our last days in the Integra Houston Galleria office.
Packing up our “paperless” office! 90% of these boxes are for one person!
We promise he is a whole new person since we started our ESG monitoring of the number of pages printed out in the office.
After spending close to 20 years in this location, we will miss it, but it’s time……
We are moving down the street to a bigger office space (with and an on-site gym (for we know who…) and a coffee shop for that Java buzz, brownies and healthy salads).

Qixiang Tengda PDH Unit Update
Back in 2019, we posted that Qixiang Tengda (QXTD) had up scaled it’s planned UOP technology, PDH unit in Zibo to 700kt/year. Last month, it was announced in China that the start-up had been successful and on spec production had been achieved.
We would like to congratulate our parent company for the successful completion and commissioning of the project and the latest step of the company’s commitment to the c3/c4 derivatives chain in China.
In Conversation with…. Gina Fyffe, CEO of Integra Petrochemicals
The HC editorial staff recently sat down with our CEO, Gina Fyffe to discuss how she dared to be different in her professional journey. From biomedical researcher, to founding a petrochemical trading company at 31, to chairing the board of the global company that it has become with its trading, distribution and now manufacturing sites in China.
Gina not only dared to differ, but also learned and implemented along the way, sharing the lessons with Integra reaping the benefits of those early lessons of its founder across the company, but particularly in diversity , employing a wide range of nationalities, ages & backgrounds, giving depth and a deep understanding to the organization. Her passion and interest in many areas are obvious including her enthusiasm and concerns for the shipping sector and why people hesitate to join the petrochemical industry.
With a leader with so much energy, ideas and plans for the future, Integra feels more like a well organized start-up than a middle aged traditional industry. Perhaps that is part of the daring to be different also?
We thank HC Group especially Fatima Sadouki for the opportunity to express our ideas through our CEO, and for making the interview, relevant and topical, and for keeping up with Gina-which we know is not always easy!

International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Caroline Raman
In our last March posting to celebrate “International Women’s Day”, we turned the spotlight on Caroline Raman, one of our European Directors.
Caroline took up this role in 2006 following a career in audit and finance, so we asked – “Caroline, how did you adapt to working in a very operational and dynamic environment like Integra compared to being a partner in an audit firm?”
Caroline’s answer was: “When I first joined, I found the working environment to be very different. I slowly learned to adapt by learning the industry lingo, understanding the type of business, thinking globally and focusing on the “Big Picture” rather than drowning in details. My analytical nature and being a former competitive basketball player, helped me face the challenges head on.
Based on her long experience of the company, “What would you say to women thinking of a career in a company like Integra?”
Caroline’s answer was “Dare to be the change. Don’t be afraid to fail but be afraid not to try. From the outside, it looks like a very male dominated industry but, I can assure anybody that certainly Integra does not see gender, age, sexuality or ethnicity as in its employment or recruitment culture. We have a really lovely big mix of people and backgrounds in Integra and that makes it challenging at times but also very enriching and fun. “
She concluded “There will be challenges joining any new organization but once you overcome those what is important is that you are encouraged to grow as a person, learning from the challenges and being empowered and given the space to make the change.”
International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Bavani Prapaharan
This week our “International Women’s Day” spotlight is turned on Bavani Prapaharan, our Singapore based Demurrage Claims Manager. Bavani joined Integra in 2017 and we asked – “Vani, you have been with us for close to 5 years now. What has been the x factor which makes working with Integra different from the other companies you have worked in before?
Bavani’s answer was: “To me what distinguishes Integra from other companies is the company’s flat hierarchy and people-oriented culture.”
Curious we asked what is the “people oriented culture” she is referring to. Her explanation was “Four years back, I started my academic journey in Logistics, Materials & Supply Chain Management at Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) which was challenging and required a good level of planning & prioritization of tasks at work. I was offered a flexi work schedule by Integra knowing fully well that I had recently joined the company but to me, it displayed the amount of trust Integra had on me and this motivated me to successfully complete my studies with distinction.”
She concluded “The people-oriented culture has definitely helped me thrive and grow with the company for which I consider myself very fortunate”.
International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Judie Tan
This week our “International Women’s Day” spotlight is turned on Judie Tan, our Singapore based Operations Manager. Judie joined Integra in 2012 and will be taking over from Girly Lee as Operations Manager East of Suez from next month- We asked Judie what has made her stay through the years with Integra?
Judie’s answer was: “Integra is like my second home and I never felt alone from Day 1 of joining the company. The team culture and a flat hierarchy has helped me stay for 10 years.“
Curious we asked Is there anything that the company does about its culture that helps you in balancing your work and home?
Her explanation was “A few years back, I needed more time to work from home and understanding the gravity of the situation, I was allowed to work from home every afternoon for a year. The empathy shown during this period when working from home was never a default option before C-19, shows the amount of trust the company had on me and the level of flexibility HR had on policy matters – This helped me work with ease during these tough times. We are also discouraged from working late hours or over the weekends – All these measures help employees not get burned out in the long run. I consider myself fortunate to be working with Integra as team culture and work life balance is followed in practice here.”
International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Jenny Glass
This week our “International Women’s Day” spotlight is turned on Jenny Glass, our Houston based Operations Manager. Jenny joined Integra mid last year and we asked her if there is anything in the Integra culture that stands out that she finds useful or helpful to her personally.
Jenny’s answer was: “As a new comer to Integra, I noticed the immediate impact of how teams from across the globe integrate and contribute to the company – be it Operations, Chartering, Accounts, Trade Finance, Trading or Office Administration. It is very rewarding and a humbling experience to see how my contributions as an individual were appreciated and accepted; both by the company and my colleagues globally.
The lack of ego, hierarchy and openness was a little daunting in the beginning but now that I have settled in, I find the environment is very empowering and liberating.

International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Roma de Vera
Integra is well known for championing diversity across our organization. This year, to mark “International Women’s Day”, we have turned the spotlight on a few of the women within Integra during March.
We asked Roma de Vera, one of our Asian based traders, how she manages her working day, since it spreads across several time zones. – Is work life balance achievable in a busy trading environment?
Roma’s answer to this one was : “At Integra, we are given a safe space to challenge, ask and learn, and to develop our own rhythm as individuals, this has helped me to evolve both as a person and as a professional, finding what works for me at this point in my life.. For me, I like to follow what I call an “integrated” work-private life rather than what people call ‘balanced’ work/life one.” A part of daily life after all for most of us is work, so they are not exclusive concepts.
Curious we asked what is an “integrated” approach. Her explanation was “Whichever task or activity has the priority at any certain time will get that priority attention, with the other channels turned down but not off! Setting clear boundaries on what I can and what I cannot for the day helps me manage many tasks and play the different roles that make up my life today. Having harmony across activities rather than conflict is key..

United for Beirut
Calling all Ports and Friends – We answered the call from Beirut! You can too!
Integra has partnered with various Singapore friends to fill its first container on Monday 21st September; with much needed goods for babies, children and families in disaster struck Beirut. Hopefully the first of many deliveries from Singapore!
When our container arrives in Lebanon, it will be handed over locally to NGO partner NUSANED (https://www.nusaned.org).
They will ensure the contents get to the intended recipients, quickly (https://www.nusaned.org/en/our-programs/goods-in-need).
The contents, are what we all take for granted and can find in the supermarkets easily but not today in Beirut! Even if you had the money to pay for them.
Winter is coming and so many people still have limited and temporary shelters; their homes destroyed or damaged by the explosion. Schools are piles of rubble, as is everything else for miles around the port.
From one port city to another, from one group of people to another, this was a phone call for support that we were pleased to be able to answer.
A super big shout out to HAPAG Lloyd Shipping Co who are covering all the shipping costs and Thank you to our SFO friend Debbie Chien for pulling this together with their other Singapore friends.
For more info, check www.nusaned.org and maybe answer the call?

Singapore Office – Children’s Book and Toy Swap
With the stress of remote schooling, closed shops, and Integra staff working from home most of the time on rotation-Integra’s Singapore staff came up with the idea of operating an office children’s book and toy swap, that staff members can access during in office rotations as part of our essential services cover.
We will operate this at least during the month long “circuit breaker” period in Singapore, but might make it permanent as a good way of recycling and re using “preloved” items, adding the option to donate regularly to local charities.

ICIS Asian Butadiene Conference – Day 2
Day 2 of the ICIS Asian Butadiene & Derivatives Conference focused on the Chinese slowdown, ABS uncertainty and South America’s role in BD. Our CEO, Gina Fyffe sat on the final panel discussing: The Asian Butadiene market of the future. What will the next 5 years look like?.
Gina with 40 years of Olefins and BD experience had a pretty clear view on how this will pan out. One interesting topic was the discussion started by Gina on how Asian contract prices are settled on the basis of publications.
Removing the contracting parties from having a say in their profitability, instead basing it on a relatively small number of spot transactions. There was interest in the room on the European and US models of agreeing prices, but belief that Asian companies were not ready for this responsibility.
ICIS Asian Butadiene Conference – Day 1

A group from Integra and the students spent some hours in the Integra office and over drinks earlier in the week, talking about life in Singapore, recruitment, social media profiles, interview techniques, CV’s, the benefits of degrees and an open mindset to post university.
How Gina went from being a Bio Science student in the medical school in Edinburgh, to founding a global multi billion dollar company over 30 years was also of course something of interest!
